INTERVIEW WITH ANNA BERDIUGINA
Anna Berdiugina is a Russian volleyball player and has been training volleyball for 4 years.
1. Can you tell us something about yourself? What is your name, how old are you and where are you from?
„My name is Anna Berdiugina, I’m 15 years old, and I’m from Yekaterinburg, Russia.“
2. When did you become interested in volleyball and when did you start training?
„My dad played volleyball, and when I was 11 y.o., I realized I really wanted to play too, so he took me to a local sports club.“
3. How much are you tall and what position do you play?
„I’m 178 centimeters tall, and I play as a setter.“
4. Who are your idols in sports in general and who in volleyball?
„Outside of volleyball, my sports idols are Aryna Sabalenka, Alexander Bublik, and Paige Bueckers. In volleyball, I really look up to the Nikolov brothers, Jordan Larson, Kelsey Robinson, Andrea Drews, Jordyn Poulter, Alessia Orro, Elizaveta Fitisova, and Natalia Suvorova.“
5. Are you a member of a volleyball club and if so, which club?
„I started training at the „Uralochka“ Olympic Reserve Sports School, which is one of the top sports schools in Russia. I’m graduating from there next year.“
6. Can you single out some success and tell us more about it?
„I’ve won the Regional (“region” in Russia – it’s like “state” in USA) Volleyball Championship four times (once in the older age group and three times in my own age group), and in one of those tournaments, I was named the best player.“
7. What are your plans for the future in terms of volleyball?
„In the future, I want to continue my professional volleyball career — hopefully, abroad.“
8. Would you recommend the younger generation of boys and girls to try volleyball?
„Absolutely! Volleyball is a fantastic sport. It doesn’t just develop your physical and technical skills; it also teaches you how to be part of a team.“
