INTERVIEW WITH DURU TURKMEN! Duru Turkmen is a Turkish volleyball player and has been training volleyball for 7 years.
1. Can you tell us something about yourself? What is your name, how old are you and where are you from?
„Hello, I am Duru Turkmen. I am 12 years old. I am from Edirne.“
2. When did you become interested in volleyball and when did you start training?
„I started playing volleyball when I was 5 years old. My aunt was a volleyball player. I did my first training with my aunt. When I moved to Bursa, I started to participate in trainings at Nilufer Belediyespor’s youth team since I was 7 years old.“
3. How much are you tall and what position do you play?
„I am 168 cm tall and a middle player.“
4. Who are your idols in sports in general and who in volleyball?
„My idol in the entire sports world is Sümeyye Boyacı, who continued swimming despite not having arms from birth. My idol in the volleyball world is Merve Çepni.“
5. Are you a member of a volleyball club and if so, which club?
„I started my first training with Nilüfer Belediyespor and I still continue with Nilüfer Belediyespor.“
6. Can you single out some success and tell us more about it?
„We won the championship in Bursa with my club and participated in the Turkish Championship and came in third.“
7. What are your plans for the future in terms of volleyball?
„When I turn 14, I aim to play for the U15 national team. As I get older, I want to play for the main A national team.“
8. Would you recommend the younger generation of boys and girls to try volleyball?
„I recommend them to try volleyball. Volleyball taught me teamwork, it was very beneficial, my muscles developed, sports also contribute to the lessons, I want everyone who can do it with their lessons to try volleyball.“
