INTERVIEW WITH IREM SU YILDIZ! Irem Su Yildiz is a Turkish volleyball player and has been training volleyball for 15 years.
1. Can you tell us something about yourself? What is your name, how old are you and where are you from?
„Hello. My name is Irem Su Yildiz. I’m 18. I’m from Turkey.“
2. When did you become interested in volleyball and when did you start training?
„I started volleyball thanks to my sister when I was a second class at the age of 8, then I joined a volleyball camp that summer, then I was chosen to the teams so my career started for the first time at the age of 14. I had a chance to volleyball at the 1st league level.“
3. How much are you tall and what position do you play?
„I am 178 cm and I play as middle player.“
4. Who are your idols in sports in general and who in volleyball?
„In the sense of general sports, my idols are Naim Suleymanoglu and Pele. Regarding to my sport im fan of Zehra Gunes, Jovana Stevanovic and Eda Erdem Dundar“
5. Are you a member of a volleyball club and if so, which club?
„I started my volleyball career at Antalyaspor in Antalya, Turkish, and continued playing there for 6 years. I then played for 2 seasons with Kepez Belediyespor, also based in Antalya. I am currently in the university placement process and actively looking for a new team. I’m excited about future opportunities.“
6. Can you single out some success and tell us more about it?
„My biggest achievement is being selected as the MVP in the Turkish Women’s 2nd League, standing out among all players nationwide.“
7. What are your plans for the future in terms of volleyball?
„I’m a determined volleyball player who’s always focused on self-improvement. My current goal is to perform at my best, climb to the top levels of the Turkish leagues, and build a strong foundation for my professional career..“
8. Would you recommend the younger generation of boys and girls to try volleyball?
„Yes, absolutely! As a country with a natural talent for sports, especially volleyball, Turkey has become a true powerhouse in this field — we even proudly say “We are a volleyball country.” I definitely encourage younger boys and girls to give volleyball a try. Beyond the athletic benefits, it teaches discipline, teamwork, and determination. With the growing opportunities in youth development and professional leagues, it’s a great time to get involved and be part of something inspiring.“
