INTERVJU SA MARIJOM LUKIĆ

Read the interview we had with Marija Lukic, a volleyball player from Serbia, who has been training volleyball for more than 10 years.

1. Can you tell us something about yourself? What is your name, how old are you and where are you from?

"I am Marija Lukic. I'm 21 years old, I'm from Serbia, but I've been living in Melbourne, Australia for the last couple of years."

2. 2. When did you become interested in volleyball and when did you start training??

"I have been training volleyball for 11 years. I started training volleyball as a hobby when I was 11 years old. I fell in love with this sport and started playing it seriously when I turned 15."

3. How much are you tall and what position do you play?

"I am 170 cm tall and I play the position of receiver/libero."

4. Who are your idols in sports in general and who in volleyball?

"Generally, I don't have many idols, but you could say that Brenda Castillo, from the Dominican Republic, is one of the players I really like to watch. In sports, there are players with incredible careers such as Novak Djokovic, Tijana Bošković and Nikola Jokić who really showed that you can achieve anything in life, all you need is will and effort."

5. In which club did you start training and in which club are you today?

"I am a member of the Melbourne Vipers club that competes in the Super League in Australia. I am also a member of the Heidelberg Volleyball Club which competes in the Victoria League in Australia."

6. 6. Can you single out some success and tell us more about it?

"I really have many good successes and memories at competitions, but perhaps one that I would single out is when we represented Victoria U19 and beat Thailand in the final. I won the All star 7 for the libero position in that competition. But winning gold with Melbourne Vipers is one of my greatest achievements."

7. 7. What are your future plans for volleyball?

"The plans for the future are to continue training and to prove that I deserve to play for the national team, either Australia or Serbia. My plan is to find a club in Europe that will allow me to be even better at what I do. For this season, my plan is to train and play at the highest possible level."

8. Would you recommend the younger generation of boys and girls to try volleyball?

,,Of course! I think that volleyball is a very wonderful sport and that you can really gain a lot of good experiences and friends for life with this sport. I would recommend all the younger generations to try this sport, because volleyball is really much more than a sport."
