INTERVIEW WITH MARIJA GAMBIROZA, A TALENTED VOLLEYBALL PLAYER FROM BOSNIA AND HERZEGOVINA.
Read the interview we had with Marija Gambiroza, a volleyball player from Bosne i Hercegovine, who has been training volleyball for about 4 years.
1. Can you tell us something about yourself? What is your name, how old are you and where are you from?
"Hello, I'm Marija Gambiroza. I am 18 years old, I play volleyball and I come from Banja Luka."
2. When did you become interested in volleyball and when did you start training?
"I have been training volleyball for 4 years."
3. How much are you tall and what position do you play?
"I am 182 cm tall and I play as a setter."
4. Who are your idols in sports in general and who in volleyball?
"My idol in volleyball is one of the best players in the world, Maja Ognjenovic and my idol in sports generaly is Novak Djokovic."
5. Are you a member of a volleyball club and if so, which club?
,,Trenutno sam član Ženskog odbojkaškog kluba “Borac” iz Banjaluke u koji sam došla ove godine. Prethodne sezone igrala sam za Univerzitetski odbojkaški klub “Banjaluka Volley”.“
6. Can you single out some success and tell us more about it?
"My greatest success was definitely joining the first team of the University Volleyball Club "Banjaluka Volley" at the age of 16, when the club played in the Central European MEVZA League. I was the youngest member of a club whose players were almost twice my age with great club and national team careers. At the age of 17, I played in the CEV Cup in that club, and within a year I played in the BVA Cup, where there were teams from Romania, Turkey, and Macedonia, and we won 4th place. As for the BIH championship, in 2021/22 we won second place in the Cup of RS and BIH, and we finished the league in second place as well as in the next 2022/23 season. I am currently playing in the First League of the Republic of Srpska for the Women's Volleyball Club "Borac", where I am also the youngest. With only one defeat after the first part of the season, we are in first place in the table."
7. What are your plans for the future in terms of volleyball?
"At the moment, I don't have any big plans, but I certainly want to continue playing volleyball because in a very short period of time I managed to achieve excellent results."
8. Would you recommend the younger generation of boys and girls to try volleyball?
"Volleyball is a wonderful sport and I definitely recommend everyone to try it because I'm sure they won't regret it. Volleyball is not an easy sport, but with enough effort and work, I am sure that the results will not be lacking."
