Ding Liren, a Chinese chess player, is the new world champion. Nepomnjaci took the lead no fewer than three times during the match, but Ding equalized each time, forcing a tiebreak. After three draws in quick tie-breaks, he defeated the Russian Jan Nepomniachi in the fourth tie-break match, full of uncertainty.
